Winter 2012 Chart v3.0 and the shows I’ll watch

December 10, 2011

Chart by cowboybibimbop.

Let’s get to it.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 2 – I passed up the first season initially, but it was pretty enjoyable when I gave it a shot. Can’t wait for some Mori this season.

Recorder to Randoseru – Legal loli, 4koma, etc. Too many things for me to ignore.

Another – I hope this one is good, because I really want it to be.

Black Rock Shooter – Doko e itta no?

Amagami SS+ plus – Not sure how I feel about this really getting a second season, but if it’s half as good as the first then I’m still in for a great ride.

Kill Me Baby – 4koma comedy. I obviously don’t get enough of this in my animu diet.

Mouretsu Pirates – Based on a novel series called, literally, “Mini-Skirt Pirates.” Curiosity got the better of me on this one. I just have to see how it is.

Papa no Iu Koto wo Kikinasai! – I don’t really have a reason for this one. Just ’cause. Seriously. I can’t think of any reason why I’d watch this show, but I want to anyway.

Nisemonogatari – Hell yeah, more Bakemonogatari goodness.

Specials, OVAs, and movies:
– Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei – Can’twaitcan’twaitcan’twait
– Usagi Drop – Still watching these.
– Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: Yune & Alice – I honestly forgot about these. Need to get on ’em.
– Toradora – My levels of hype are immesurable. Bold just ’cause.
– Hidan no Aria – Why not? I rather liked the show.
– Carnival Phantasm 3rd Season – This has been phenomenal. Everyone who likes Type-Moon needs to see it.
– Higurashi Kira – Episode 3 subs where?
– Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko – Only slightly less hype than the Toradora OVA.
– Ura Mirai Nikki – Maybe. Depends on how much I care to follow up on it. I said I was gonna watch the Infinite Stratos OVA and ended up not giving two craps.
– Steins;Gate – About as much hype as Denpa Onna.
– K-ON! movie – No cam rips for me. Only watching when a good home release rip is out.
– .hack//The Movie – Again, not watching until a good home release rip is out.

I feel like I get lazier with these every time. Oh well.

May follow up with a post about what I scored in Right Stuf’s holiday sale after it’s over. We’ll see.

Fall 2011 Chart v3.0 and shows to watch this season

September 18, 2011

As usual, chart is courtesy of cowboybibimbop.

Another season, another set of stuff I’ll be wasting my valuable free time with.

Shinryaku!? Ika Musume – Second season of one of the best shows of last year. Oh hell yes.

Bakuman 2 – Pretty much the same as above. Second season of one of the best shows of last year.

C3 -Cube x Cursed x Curious- – Yeah, I dunno. I saw a preview, I guess I just wanna see if it’s worth watching. I really don’t know jack squat about it and none of the descriptions are really very informative.

WORKING’!! – Second season of WORKING!! Already seen the first episode of this from the pre-air. It feels a little more balanced in character focus so far, but of course it’s the first episode, and it had to serve to reintroduce characters and stuff. There’s no guarantee it won’t slip right back into the awful Inami focus while it completely ignores everyone else just like the first season did, but I’ll give it a shot and hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Fate/Zero – I had every intention of reading the novels once they were fully translated, but I just haven’t had the time. I may try to squeeze them in before the anime gets too far into itself because I want to be familiar with the source material, but regardless of whether I do or not, a Fate series prequel written by Gen Urobuchi with all of the praise I’ve seen it given is an absolute must-watch.

Tamayura ~hitotose~ – I sat down to watch the OVA series of this a few months ago after I heard people mention that it was getting a TV series and I have to say that I was highly impressed. I absolutely loved it and I am seriously looking forward to this series. I really hope it lives up to the standards set by the OVAs, because if it does then it’s going to be one of the best shows this season.

Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai – I’m pretty much just watching this one on the hype built around it. A lot of people are talking about it and I just really want to see what all of the fuss is about. Also, the artist for the novels is the same as the artist for the Denpa Onna novels and you can really see that in the art for this series. I really liked that art style, so I’m also drawn to this. Shame we won’t have some excellent Shaft angles to go along with it, though.

Mirai Nikki – I still want to get around to reading all of the rest of the manga I have before this gets going (so yay, another barrier for the season alongside the Fate/Zero novels), but definitely interested in this.

Guilty Crown – Supercell, Supercell everywhere. I was initially attracted to this series for the character designs, but Supercell’s name being plastered all over it (which of course means Ryo is doing the music) means that there’s absolutely zero reason for me not to watch this. One of the series I’m most excited about this season.

Hidamari Sketch x SP – Always up for more Hidamari Sketch. Also can’t wait for the fourth season that’s been announced.

Specials, OVAs, and movies:
– Astarotte no Omocha! EX – Actually already saw this.
– Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Yonin to Idol – I had no idea this was already out. Gonna watch it shortly.
– Hourou Musuko special
– Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: Sora ga Bokura no Nichijou
– Kimi ni Todoke specials
– Ikoku Meiro no Croisée: Yune & Alice
– Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai OVA
– Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira OVA 2 and 3
– Carnival Phantasm 2nd Season
– Usagi Drop specials
– Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn 4
– Seitokai Yakuindomo OVA (Oh hell yes)
– Infinite Stratos Encore: Koi ni Kogareru Sextet

Nothing else I’m interested in so far, but as usual, we’ll see if I pick up something else as the season goes on.

Summer 2011 Chart v2.0 and my shows to watch this season

June 21, 2011

Super delayed because I haven’t had a lot of free time lately with a new job. Chart is courtesy of cowboybibimbop.

Let’s get right to it this time, shall we?

Appleseed XIII – A few months back I sat down to watch the first two Appleseed movies and while I liked the first one okay, I was thoroughly impressed by the second. I’m anxiously awaiting this one. Actually, it’s already started, but no one’s freaking subbing it. All of my rage. (Or at least, that’s what I’ve been told.)

Double-J – I’ve been pretty impressed with the Yaruani? program so far, so I’ll keep an eye on it and see what comes out.

Yuru Yuri – I need at least one of these every season. It doesn’t always work out (A-Channel), but I have a good feeling about this one.

Kamisama Dolls – Iunno, whatever. Sounds interesting.

Morita-san wa Mukuchi – I watched the OVA for this, but I wasn’t really that impressed. I’m kinda hoping the TV series will change my mind about the series in general. I do want to like it.

Usagi Drop – I’ve heard a lot about this series and the anime will apparently be covering what’s considered to be the better part of it. I keep meaning to pick up the manga, but I haven’t had the money lately so it just hasn’t happened. I’d like to catch up on it before I start watching, though. I don’t think I’ll have enough time…

The iDOLM@STER – Pretty excited about this. My exposure to Idolmaster is minimal, but I’ve been interested for a while, without much to look through except the weird Xenoglossia thing. Can’t wait for it.

Mayo Chiki! – This might be my dedicated new comedy series for the season. Not really familiar with the source material, though, so I can’t say for sure.

R-15 – Show about a porn novel writer. Either going to be really good or really bad, but it’s a must-watch either way.

Dantalian no Shoka – Gainax show. Gotta watch.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! – Basketball lolis.

Kamisama no Memochou – JC Staff show about a NEET girl in pajamas. How could I not watch this?

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! – Second season of BakaTest. I love this show so damn much. Can’t wait.

Specials and OVAs:
– Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? OVA (Actually already watched it)
– Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Special
– Kiss x Sis OVA 5 (Oh man, so excited)
– Katte ni Kaizou 2 (Already seen it, actually)
– Softenni Special
– Yurumates Huh?
– Nichijou Special
– Valkyria Chronicles 3 OVA (As long as it doesn’t spoil the game too hard)
– Appleseed XIII (I guess this might be the actual series? Why is it on the chart twice?)
– Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!! Special
– Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira (SO. MUCH. EXCITEMENT.)
– Carnival Phantasm (STILL. MORE. EXCITEMENT.)
– Kuttsukiboshi (Well, I can finally see how that cliffhanger ended up.)
– Mahou Sensei Negima! ANIME FINAL (I’ll probably wait for a home version, though. No way I’m watching a camrip, if one even shows up.)

No other potential additions, but we’ll see if something piques my interest as the season goes on.

Higurashi “Matsuribayashi-hen” Impressions

July 20, 2010

92a9bf84-7a53-4e51-bb24-52c6ae256895

So after waiting a few days on patches, I finished up Higurashi Kai with the final arc, Matsuribayashi. And as usual, I didn’t buy it because the price point was too high. I used someone else’s copy. Now we move on to the usual discussion of the arc, including MangaGamer’s handling of it.

The usual. Not buying, too expensive (though they’ve dropped their prices a bit recently, this arc is still the usual price), will play someone else’s copy, expect a review after I read it which will be after patches come out.

Oh, and this is the final Kai arc, so everything by 07th Expansion except two arcs of Higurashi Rei is translated now. I’m hoping MG will pick up Rei and do the last two arcs as well, or that maybe the GameFAQs team that was working with Witch-Hunt on the Umineko Ep6 patch decides to pick it up. *Wink wink hint hint*

Higurashi “Minagoroshi-hen” Impressions

June 26, 2010

0453433b-b248-487f-941b-2bc51d9ec347

I actually finished reading this a couple of days ago, but I decided to put some priority on other things. I guess I don’t love my occasional reader as much as I really freaking wanted to play a damn video game for once. Damn near burned myself out on VNs thanks to Fate/stay night.

Anyway, as usual, I didn’t buy it. Too expensive for my tastes. I used someone else’s copy.

And again, not buying, too expensive for the missing content, etc. Impressions after I read it, blah blah, but I have to finish Fate/stay night first and I dunno when that will be.

Higurashi “Tsumihoroboshi-hen” (& first anime series) Impressions

May 2, 2010

e7bdaae6bb85e38197e7b7a8

As usual, I didn’t buy it, I just used someone else’s copy. I’m not paying the ridiculous price MG is asking for it. So yeah, some bonus content this time as I comment on the first anime series as well, since the two match up to this point in the VN release.

Higurashi: Tsumihoroboshi-hen is available for purchase

As usual, I won’t be buying given the high price tag and I’ll be using someone else’s copy. As good as Higurashi is and as much improvement as MangaGamer has made with their translation, it’s a hefty price tag for the amount of content, especially since they’re altering the soundtrack.

Anyway, as before, impressions will follow after I read it. I’ll be waiting on patches first.
