Fall 2012 Chart 2.0 and shows I’ll be watching

September 22, 2012

New chart is up, courtesy of the usual place.

Shin Sekai Yori – The premise sounds interesting. I’m always up for a story like this.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! – KyoAni’s newest work. I have to. I can’t recall being disappointed by one of their series yet.

BTOOOM! – I’ve heard some stuff about the series. Kinda interested in it.

Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb – OH MY GOD I’M SO EXCITED HOLY CRAP I CAN’T WAIT IT’S GONNA BE SO GOOD OH LORD WHY ISN’T IT AIRING YET

Busou Shinki – I didn’t know anything about this until I played Otomedius Excellent, but I rather like it and I watched the short episodes. Can’t wait for the series and some more Arnval and Strarf.

K – Iunno. It looks interesting, visually. I’m always up for supporting original series, too.

Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankei Nai yo ne – Incest story of the season.

Bakuman 3 – Third season. Bring it. Hopefully less stupid drama this season, but I’m not getting my hopes up. The second season left off at a really exciting point, though.

Haitai Nanafa – This will be my moé overdose for the season, I guess? I honestly don’t have much confidence in sticking with it the whole season.

Little Busters! – I guess that this will technically be my first Key series. I watched Angel Beats, but it’s a very different beast than the VNs. (I actually have Kanon, Air, and Clannad on DVD that I need to sit down and watch still.)

Teekyuu – This is definitely my kind of series. I think it’s just going to be those short episodes, though, so that’s kind of upsetting. I hope the budget isn’t complete garbage.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo – JC Staff LN adaptation of the season. I’m more or less obligated to check these out every time.

Girls und Panzer – It just looks like my kind of thing. I LIKE MOÉ, OKAY?

Medaka Box Abnormal – Second season. Pretty excited.

Psycho-Pass – Urobuchi is writing. I can’t pass this one up.

Robotics;Notes – New 5pb. VN adaptation. I heard it wasn’t as good as Steins;Gate, but I’m still very interested.

Seitokai no Ichizon – Second season. More harem hijinks. I hope the loli is back. She’s awesome.

Specials, OVAs, and movies:
– High School DxD – I actually already watched it.
– Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai: Add-on Disc – Pretty excited.
– Inu x Boku SS Special – This was a very underrated show last year. Can’t wait for more.
– Amagami SS+ plus Onsen Special – It says unaired, but I’m pretty sure we saw this during the broadcast…
– Minami-ke Omatase – I hope it’s at least on par with the third season, but it would be better if it was as good as the second. Another season has been announced as well.
– Upotte!! – I really liked this show. It was surprisingly good.
– The World God Only Knows – I thought we were done with the anime for this. I’m glad we’re getting more.
– Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? OF THE DEAD – I’m glad we get more since the second season was so short.
– THE iDOLM@STER: Shiny Festa – HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE. So hyped. I’ll be buying all three games these come on, but not until there’s an inevitable budget/value/Best edition.
– Tasogare Otome x Amnesia – This ended up being one of the better shows I’ve seen, and I love Oonuma’s direction. I can’t wait to revisit the series.
– Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica movie 1 & 2 – I’ll definitely watch these, but I’m waiting on BD. I probably won’t even watch if they come to a theater nearby. (They’ve been announced to come to some theaters around the world.)
– Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo – The Rebuild movies have been amazing so far. Can’t wait for the third entry. As before, I’ll be waiting on BD.

A lot more than I hoped to be watching this season, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it.

I’m not sure when the final impressions will come for Summer because of how far behind Joshiraku is, so I imagine the next anime-related post will be initial impressions for Fall. There will probably be two import posts and a post about AWA before that.

Spring 2012 (+Fate/Zero & Pirates) Final Impressions

July 10, 2012

Apologies on how long this took to get to. As mentioned in the previous post, I was waiting to see what was going to happen with Saki: Achiga-hen. It looks like the last three episodes will be coming in at a later point, so I’ll hold off reviewing that one, but to make up for it, with Fate/Zero done, I’ll be doing my pick for Fall 2011’s show of the season and 2011’s show of the year.

Spring 2012 Initial Impressions

April 28, 2012

Took a while to get to this due to Hyouka coming out really late into the season, and then I’ve been fairly busy during the week, with what little free time I had dedicated to Idolmaster (more on that shortly).

Spring 2012 Chart v1.0 and show I’ll watch

March 18, 2012

Chart by cowboybibimbop.

Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden – Admittedly I’m only going to watch this for Rock Lee. I have zero interest in Naruto otherwise.

Fushigi no Umi no Nadia Digital Remaster – I’ve always been curious about this series, so I’ll pick it up.

Upotte!! – Moé anthropomorphized guns. Don’t need to explain myself here.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia – I almost picked up the manga for this once, so I guess I’ll do the next best thing and pick up the anime.

Hyouka – I don’t even know (or care) what this is about, but it’s KyoAni’s new series so it’s a given.

Fate/Zero – Obviously. Second half is going to blow the first half out of the water.

Kore wa Zombie desu ka? OF THE DEAD – Loved the first season, so I’m ready for this.

Sankarea – Zombie romantic comedy. I need no words.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san – Finally, a full-fledged TV series. I can’t wait.

Medaka Box – NisiOisin animu, do want.

Nazo no Kanojo X – Another one I almost picked the manga up for.

Saki: Achiga-hen – Episode of Side-A – Saki is my 3rd favorite anime ever. Guess why I’m watching this.

Specials, OVAs, and movies:
– Fate/Zero Extra – If this is that thing with Iri in the classroom, it looks funny.
– High School DxD – I’ve really enjoyed the series. A lot more than I thought I would.
– Ura Mirai Nikki – Did the first one come out? I never saw it.
– Amagami SS+ plus – Maybe. The series has kinda sucked.
– Thermae Romae – This is another thing I liked a lot more than I thought I would.
– C3 – Wow, that’s a good thing. Had no idea this would be coming out.
– Seitokai Yakuindomo – Oh hell yeeeeeeeees.
– Kore wa Zombie desu ka? – More is better. Usually.
– Strike Witches movie – But only once a good rip comes out.

No one cares because no one reads this, but I’ll be out of town next week and I’ll miss a few season enders, so it’ll be a while before I get around to my season wrap-up. I say anywhere from 1.5 to 2 weeks minimum.

Summer 2011 Chart v2.0 and my shows to watch this season

June 21, 2011

Super delayed because I haven’t had a lot of free time lately with a new job. Chart is courtesy of cowboybibimbop.

Let’s get right to it this time, shall we?

Appleseed XIII – A few months back I sat down to watch the first two Appleseed movies and while I liked the first one okay, I was thoroughly impressed by the second. I’m anxiously awaiting this one. Actually, it’s already started, but no one’s freaking subbing it. All of my rage. (Or at least, that’s what I’ve been told.)

Double-J – I’ve been pretty impressed with the Yaruani? program so far, so I’ll keep an eye on it and see what comes out.

Yuru Yuri – I need at least one of these every season. It doesn’t always work out (A-Channel), but I have a good feeling about this one.

Kamisama Dolls – Iunno, whatever. Sounds interesting.

Morita-san wa Mukuchi – I watched the OVA for this, but I wasn’t really that impressed. I’m kinda hoping the TV series will change my mind about the series in general. I do want to like it.

Usagi Drop – I’ve heard a lot about this series and the anime will apparently be covering what’s considered to be the better part of it. I keep meaning to pick up the manga, but I haven’t had the money lately so it just hasn’t happened. I’d like to catch up on it before I start watching, though. I don’t think I’ll have enough time…

The iDOLM@STER – Pretty excited about this. My exposure to Idolmaster is minimal, but I’ve been interested for a while, without much to look through except the weird Xenoglossia thing. Can’t wait for it.

Mayo Chiki! – This might be my dedicated new comedy series for the season. Not really familiar with the source material, though, so I can’t say for sure.

R-15 – Show about a porn novel writer. Either going to be really good or really bad, but it’s a must-watch either way.

Dantalian no Shoka – Gainax show. Gotta watch.

Ro-Kyu-Bu! – Basketball lolis.

Kamisama no Memochou – JC Staff show about a NEET girl in pajamas. How could I not watch this?

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Ni! – Second season of BakaTest. I love this show so damn much. Can’t wait.

Specials and OVAs:
– Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? OVA (Actually already watched it)
– Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Special
– Kiss x Sis OVA 5 (Oh man, so excited)
– Katte ni Kaizou 2 (Already seen it, actually)
– Softenni Special
– Yurumates Huh?
– Nichijou Special
– Valkyria Chronicles 3 OVA (As long as it doesn’t spoil the game too hard)
– Appleseed XIII (I guess this might be the actual series? Why is it on the chart twice?)
– Onii-chan no Koto Nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!! Special
– Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira (SO. MUCH. EXCITEMENT.)
– Carnival Phantasm (STILL. MORE. EXCITEMENT.)
– Kuttsukiboshi (Well, I can finally see how that cliffhanger ended up.)
– Mahou Sensei Negima! ANIME FINAL (I’ll probably wait for a home version, though. No way I’m watching a camrip, if one even shows up.)

No other potential additions, but we’ll see if something piques my interest as the season goes on.

Second season of Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? Announced

June 6, 2011

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-06-06/kore-wa-zombie-desu-ka-gets-2nd-anime-season

Been quiet around here lately, but I figured this was worth sharing. Probably my second favorite show last season and the one I most wanted another season of.

Winter 2011 (+Star Driver, Bakuman, & Index II) Final Impressions

April 23, 2011

Apologies for the delay. With all of the delays from the natural disasters keeping things back far enough that Madoka’s announced finale just had me put the whole thing off, it took a while to get around to this. It also took me a day just to sit down and watch Madoka and another to find the time to get around to this. Such a pain.

Starting with this season wrap-up, I’ll formally announce my show of the season. Usually I just mention it in the reviews and it just sorta gets lost in the walls of text. From here on out, it’ll be explicitly stated.

Winter 2011 Initial Impressions

January 13, 2011

I feel a bit like I’m jumping the gun on this one since I haven’t started everything I’m watching this season, but Houkago no Pleiades doesn’t start until February 1st, so it’s either now or in almost three weeks. Anywho, time to get started on what I’m watching this season.

Winter 2011 Chart v3… has been up for a while >.>;

December 13, 2010

There’s been a lot of confusion on my part this season when it comes to anime charts. Chartfag has been taking a break due to real life circumstances, but has unofficially passed the torch to (read: bothered him to do it instead) The Cart Driver. Unfortunately, I was having difficulty finding a finalized chart with premiere dates. Then I found one I had lying around from cowboybibimbop that was mostly done but didn’t have dates. Looking for the newest version, I found the completed chart I had been looking for.

And so, it’s that magical time of the season where I once again decide what I’m going to be watching in the upcoming anime season.

Haiyoru! Nyaruani: Remember My Love(craft-sensei) – Some kinda moe series about anthropomorphic Lovecraftian creatures. It apparently had some kind of ONA series earlier this year and the TV series will only consist of 4-minute episodes. Kind of disappointing given the potential of the concept. This one slipped by me and caused me to go looking for a new chart. Figures that at least one of the things I wanted to watch aired about a month before everything else. I’ll be checking it out later tonight (as well as the previous ONA series), but don’t expect any comments until the season proper starts and I get a chance to take in a bit of everything.

Rio: Rainbow Gate! – I really don’t know if I’m going to watch this one or not. Seems a little fanservicey, and I dunno about the content. Looks to have gambling and fighting to some degree, but I really don’t know if I care that much. We’ll see.

Kimi ni Todoke (2nd season) – Oh, hell yes. There’s no way I’m passing this one up. The first season was fantastic.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica – An original anime series by SHAFT with god-tier talent all around and hints of becoming srsbsns (like Nanoha maybe?). Can’t pass this up. This was originally rumored to be an Anime no Chikara project. That ended up not being the case, but the show itself ended up being true, and my excitement from the time I first heard that rumor is still going strong.

IS: Infinite Stratos – Not really sure why I want to watch this one. I had a reason before (I set it to Plan to Watch on my MAL at some point), but I forgot it. *Shrug* I guess I’ll find out when it starts. (It may be because it’s by the same studio that did the Macross Frontier movies.)

Gosick – Something about a gothic lolita girl who is amazing at solving mysteries (with deductive powers that allegedly rival Sherlock Holmes). I dunno much about the series, but it sounds like it has potential on the mystery factor alone. I’ve been a sucker for mystery series lately.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? – A boy gets killed and then revived by a necromancer as a zombie, then has to fight magical girls. I’m sorry, but that’s either the worst premise ever, or the best premise ever. I’m gonna find out which.

Fractale – I was going to watch this anyway because the premise sounded neat, but then I found out that the animation looked great and the lead male is voiced by Yuu Kobayashi, so now I can’t wait.

Yumekui Merry – *Shrug* Sounds interesting. I’m not expecting great things, but we’ll see. It’s a J.C. Staff series so it’ll either be pretty good or really bad, depending on how well they adapt it.

Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu! – Second season of Mitsudomoe. The first season was great, so I’ll be following the second for sure. Though if I had my choice of sequels for Summer 2010 shows, I’d have liked a second season of Seitokai Yakuindomo…

Onii-chan no Koto nanka Zenzen Suki Janain Dakara ne!! – Damn, these shows about little sisters and their older brothers have freaking long titles. Anyway, going to watch this one. Premise sounds good and we have a potential wincest (maybe) relationship in the making.

Houkago no Pleiades – Some thing Gainax is doing with Subaru (the car company). No idea what it is, not really sure I care. It’s Gainax, so I kinda have to watch it just to see what the hell the result will be.

I’m also going to watch these specials/OVAs:
– Mirai Nikki OVA (already did actually, was underwhelming)
– Angel Beats! Another Epilogue & Stairway to Heaven (**** yeah, Angel Beats!)
– MM!: SS (may as well, already watched through the series)
– Issho ni Training 026: Ofuro (shameless fanservice go)
– .hack//Quantum #1 (**** yeah, .hack)
– Kara no Kyoukai: Epilogue (KnK is great, Type-Moon is great)
– Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu ~Matsuri~ (can’t wait for season 2)
– Mitsudomoe (lots of upcoming Mitsudomoe)

I’d list the macross frontier movie as well, but let’s face it. I’m not going to watch a camrip of a movie I really want to see given how amazing it’ll look ripped from a blu-ray.

Well, that’ll do it. Probably nothing from me unless I decided to post something about my Christmas score or a Cross Edge review (if I ever finish it) until my Fall season final impressions. (I’ll be waiting on Zakuro and Arakawa to finish airing after Christmas.)
